There is a woman that lives near us that saw our dog when we had him at the national park over this past Saturday. She is interested and wants to breed our male with her female.

What would you say to this woman if you were me? Is this a bad idea?

I would check it out thoroughly if you were interested. Some colors of certain breeds should not be bred. I would ask her a lot of questions, particularly why she wants to breed her dog.

Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking more along the lines of no anyhow because I wanted to get him neutered. They are both Mantle Danes. My Dane has papers and is registered along with breeding rights from the breeder. I didn't go into too much detail with her because I was kind of caught off guard and put on the spot. I wasn't going to just answer with a "Great! Lets get started!" or a "no" right off the bat.

She gave me her number. I'll give her a call and ask her some questions before just giving a flat out no. If she is a "backyard" breeder, then certainly not. I have done some research on this over the past couple of days and I think I have a good list of questions I'd like to ask her.

Thanks again!
