Thumbs down In response to Bobbijean's reply...

After reading over all of the above replies to the initial thread from Northside Lab (including my own), I really don't think that anyone is saying that they are against breeding/dog breeders. No one has said that!

...and, none of the people that posted replies are 'messing' with 'hobby breeders'. Yes...this is a forum about dog breeders. Forums give people the opportunity to express their ideas, thoughts, experiences, questions, advice and OPINIONS. That is what they are for and that's why they exist.

I'm not exactly sure what the point is that Bobbijean is even trying to make, but perhaps next time he/she should think twice before generalizing everyone and calling them 'naysayers' that have 'nothing better to do with their lives'!

...I'm still trying to figure out what on earth dog breeding or breeders have to do with people that eat meat???

I think this thread was misunderstood...No one is against breeding...We're against irresponsible breeding...We're against people who breed strictly for profit and not for the betterment of the breed....We're against people who breed and have no idea what they're doing....Had the posts been thoroughly read that would've been evident!....Since most of us here do rescue and have rescues we do not like to see irresponsible people adding to the over population of these animals!!!.....FYI...I was a breeder and a responsible one so I have full knowledge of what it takes to do it responsibly!

Default I have been told Im oversensitive

If I would have came on this site and said I breed Iggys I love them and I like them to pay somewhat for themselves. what would have been said?

I am so used to getting my head ripped off for what I do that Im defensive.

the reason I said what I did was in defense of the person that got flamed because she said she breeds for profit.

and about the rabbits and goats, I was just wondering where the rescue people for them and the people telling Im garbage because I breed rabbits and goats.

Oh well Ill apologize for flying off the handle. I just feel ppl should have the right to do what they want as long as they are kind to their animals.

I just lost 7 fully vaccinated dogs to parvo because someone brought me a sick Iggy. I lost my favorite dog.

there's a big difference between people who breed just for the sake of money and those who do it because they love pets and just profiting from it...

Default reply to your repy to my first reply

I own my dogs, I love my dogs, I dont abuse my dogs, they are treated better than a child would be in my house. Good thing Im not a babysitter huh. I breed my dogs 1 time a year. I dont sell to brokers I couldnt stand to see them in that situation. I cry everytime a pup leaves this place. are they show dogs? no they arent are they the very best I could afford? yes they are.

they are vetted, they are loved and sometimes they pay for their own food royal canin isnt cheap. and sometime I loose a whole litter to parvo because someone I didnt know brought a dog into my house.

what I was saying earlier is I love my rabbits and my goats just as much, they dont get to live in the house tho.

so I just dont understand the difference of breeding by rabbits goats or dogs. if they are taken care of and treated with love.

what is your idea of kind...I dont kick them I dont mistreat them they wear coats so they dont freeze on the rare occasions they decide to potty outside.

and your Idea of responsible, they are fed they are loved I breed 1 time a year as not to tax the mother, I try my very best to make sure they go to a deserving healthy home. that is the best I can do.

If it makes me bad its just your perception of bad. cuz Im really very good.
Just ask my dogs they will tell you with every lick to my face.

Do you do all the proper genetic and health testing?Do you screen homes and have potential owners fill out applications?Do you do spay/neuter contracts?Do you have health guarantees and for how long?Do you take puppies back regardless of age if the owner can't keep them?Just out of curiosity why would you even allow a dog you don't know in your home when you have a little of pups?....I'm not asking theses? to be a smart a** just curious as to if you do them or not.

I have never done genetic testing, but I plan to have the hips eyes teeth etc...

I do have the list of everything I should test for. this will be the first time I have ever done this but I dont want to breed a dog that isnt as perfect as possible.

I would always take a dog back. I would not pay them to take it back.

And this very touchy subject. is because this dog was fully vaccinated. I trusted the vaccine. Live and learn I wont make that mistake again. And I am still very raw about it, I lost my fave dog. a dog someone dumped at a grocery store last year, and everyone knows i take all the strays. I nursed him forever it seemed.

hope that answered your questions

Bobbi

I'm still curious as to your contracts...Do they include spay/neuter requirements?...Also about your health guarantees....How long are they for/...Home screenings and applications for prospective owners...Also do you wait until you know you have homes before you breed a little...Can you afford an emergency c-section if the mom needs one and do you have her on a special diet for breeding....
