Research
I was thinking about breeding my male rottweiler with my chinamen pitbull(not sure if that is correct name). I thought I should do some research first. What are the chances of the puppies ending up looking like this . The reason I am asking is because I have heard some people say stuff like "the female is usually dominent when it comes to the color". Is this true. Is it an exact science to be able to tell what the puppies are going to look like by looking at the male and female. Plus, I have heard of a lot of people around my area breeding rottweilers and pitbulls, and I was wondering if it has become a breed with its own name yet? Also, has anyone here bred these two breeds, and were people itching to get them? I will of course try to pre-sell some of the puppies if I go through with it, but I would just like to know these things before I go out and start scouting a few people before I even let the two together.

The last thing this world needs is more mixed breed puppies to end up in a shelter!....Pitbulls have a hard enough time surviving anymore with the bad rap they get and Rotts aren't far behind...Why would you want to add to the problem?...There is no way to guarantee what they will look like...You should be researching how to be a responsible breeder not how to get the pups to look a certain way!

have you thought about the kind of people that usually want that sort of dog? & what they want them for? most are certainly not in good responsible homes. or are you only concerned about the money?
as rees said there is no way to predict what puppies will look like or what their temperment will be - some traits even skip a generation.
since you know nothing about breeding or whelping, you shouldn't be doing it!

Look people, I did not start this thread to start a flame war. Only to do some research. First of all, pitbulls and rottweilers get a bad name because of who they go to, and just like I said in the post before, this probrably isnt going to happen but if it did I was going to see about who wants them(mainly friends, friends of my family, etc.) and go from there. Believe me, I dont want to bring anymore strays into this world. About the money comment, no Im not doing it all for the money, but hell most breeders do look forward to that extra cash. Do you think if I was some half ass good for nothing breeder just out for the money that I would be doing any research. Hell no, I wouldve already had the pups sold to god knows who. So, next time look before you leap, and dont judge someone for doing some research. I hope there is never an I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS! that asks a similar question and you to assholes answer back, because then he probrably wont give two shits and breed the dogs anyway.
P.S.- To any future posters on this thread. Please dont come on here getting an attitude with me for asking a simple question.

First of all I think the name calling is very rude..Second of all the only research you indicated you were doing was to find out what your puppies would look like...You didn't mention any research you were doing as far as being a responsible breeder...You only seemed interested in what the market would be for puppies of the breeds you want to mix...furthermore as an experienced breeder I can tell you we do not do it for the money since there really isn't much to be made..We do it for the love of the breed and to better our breed...Puppy mills and byb's are a big problem in this country and those of us that responsibly breed or have bred do not give out our knowledge to people who only seem interested in the market for their particular breed and are not asking questions about responsible breeding so I think the next time you want to stoop to calling names you should make sure it's not to people who have a whole lot more experience then you!
