Default Need advice breeding young male

I am use to experienced studs. I recently purchased a young male 1.5yrs (chihuahua). My female is in heat and he does not know what to do, he gets so excited he mounts and spends it before he makes it in (his I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS! becomes engorged with the two glands pretruding on either side). I have tried to to help him but he is too timid that he runs away fro me when I get near him. My female only has 7 more days left do you think he will get it right before then? What would be your advice? Also I have heard that a female can still become pregnant without a tie, is this true? I have only bred twice always with a tie.

I think you need to take time and study up on breeding. Unfortunately you seem to be a little inexperienced and really do need to learn more before getting into this.

I agree. if you are trying to breed a dog this young, that indicates you've not had any of the genitic health testing done.

where is your mentor? why are you breeding?

it sounds like you haven't given him time to get comfortable in his new home before pushing him into breeding. he needs time to settle in & at least not be afraid of you before attempting this.

you ask for advice - get them both neutered

Thumbs down Only god can judge.

Your male will get it - suebgone is right though...your male may not be comfortable in his new surroundings yet, this is common.
