Default going crazy waiting

bred my collie girl back in may. if i go by a 63 day whelping chart, her 2nd due date was yesterday. you can't even really tell by looking at her if she's even in whelp, but she has started getting the saggy boobies. she was very restless yesterday, though she was eating a bit.

Do you have a place for her to prepare a nest? Like a corner with blankets, or a box with shredded newspaper? If you haven't, do it and you'll see some sure signs that she's ready to go

I suspect she's having a false pregnancy. If she were pregnant, you should be able to tell, even if she's having a small litter. At this stage, you could have your vet do an x-ray to see if she's pregnant, and how many puppies are in there.

Virtually all female dogs experience some degree of false pregnancy, including mammary development, nesting behavior, even false labor and adopting a surrogate puppy...a toy, for example. I've even heard of a Dachshund who adopted the telephone as her puppy!

Hi Halocollies,
If shes at day 63 and is not lactating, and isn't trying to nest, I would say the mating has not taken. Dogs go through very similar hormone stages after a heat even when they are not pregnant. They can still get the saggy boobs.. and crave attention etc sometimes if they are having a phantom pregnancy they will swell in the stomach and can even get milk.. but by now she would be attempting to find her whelping area/box, and spending a lot of time in there, and milk would be starting to leak from her teats. Good luck, but its seems maybe not this time.
