Oh my, where do I start?
First of all, while you might think you have the most wonderful Golden on the planet, the sad truth is we ALL think our dogs are wonderful, and sometimes it just isn't a spot on opinion.
So first of all, I'd try to have someone who really knows Goldens evaluate your dog. See how close he really measures up to the breed standard, and if he has qualities that will truly benefit the breed.
Then start the testing phase. All breeding dogs should be tested and cleared of some serious genetic disorders. He should have x-rays done of his hips, and submitted to OFA for evaluation. He should be Baer tested (ears/hearing) CERF tested (eyes), and he should be tested for hypothyroidism.
Goldens are also notorious for having allergies. Does he have any? How severe are they? And Goldens are prone to epilepsy. You should wait until he's at least 3 years old before you consider breeding him, as most dogs with idiopathic (no know reason) epilepsy will break with seizures by the time they're 3.
If you do all of that, and he passes everything with flying colors, you're still probably going to have a difficult time finding a quality bitch to breed him with, because most people with quality bitches that they want to breed are looking for a stud that has some letters added in front of his name; CH. As in Champion. At the very least they're looking for a dog who has proven he has something to offer by winning some points towards that championship.
And remember, the bitches owners are the ones that are going to do all the work, pay the vet bills, the food bills, and they're also going to have control over the puppies, with the exception of one, if they agree to give you pick puppy instead of a stud fee. No one in their right mind is going to hand over the entire litter for you to place, after spending all that money, and doing all that work.
By the way, any bitch that you might decide to use should also undergo the above mentioned evaluations, too.
