husky breeding...help anyone?
hi there,
before you read on and judge me as a new breeder i am looking for help and advice not criticism.
all my dogs visit the vets on a regular basis and are all pedigree. they are eye tested and hip scored with good results. i am in the financial position to breed and have the money incase my bictch would need a c section and have the money to get the pups all the vacinations they need. i also have alot of time on my hands so would be able to spend the with my bitch if she concieved and also wake up every 2 hours of the night to be with the puppies ( if she gets pregnant that is).
i am a new breeder and i have spent years on reading about this particular breed and now feel ready to start breeding however just need some one to give me advice and share their own experiences with me. how else am i supposed to learn, i know all the things that are written in books and on the internet howver they dont tell you all there is to know and you need to figure them out though experience. so i am writting on here to hear about peoples experiences.
my husky bitch is in heat and has started to stand for my husky dog. he does mount her and seems to know what to do however he does not get an errection. i dont know what to do and would like to know if any one has had the same experience, or know how to over come this.
many thanks in advace.

if you really want to learn, you never come to a website for this but seek out a mentor. Go to a local dog show and find a Husky breeder or check AKC for local registered Husky breeders in your area. No one here has the time to write all the info you will need to know.

It sounds like your headed in the right direction....Yogi is right however....The best thing to do is find a mentor which is what I did when when I decided I wanted to breed Akita's......
One thing I would suggest is to not breed until your sure you have homes for each puppy.....You didn't say how old your female was but she needs to be no younger then 2 yr.s old when she's bred for the first time....
You also want to make sure their screened for any of the health problems that are common with the breed....In my case they tend to have thyroid and retina problems so my were always screened for that as well as hips, elbows, heart and eyes.
As Yogi said there's no way we can give you all the info you need here on the forum.

i know i wouldnt find out exactly what i neededto know i was just looking to see if any one had any advice or experienced the same thing. and my bitch s 3 this month and my boy has just turned 2. we were planning on keeping 2 or 3 of the pups and alot are staying in the family.
but thanks anyway. my boy has stopped mounting her and she seems to not be in heat any more. to my knowledge they did not tie however i will get her checked over in a few weeks incase they did tie and no one was around to witness it.
