Default Before posting in this thread, please read here first!

Im not a fan of becoming heavy handed, If we are old enough to register on a forum and old enough to type, we are old enough to do some research before asking questions.

This forum, yes is for breeders, and or anything to do with breeding dogs, however it does not mean that it is open to ask the same questions over and over again.

I kindly ask that anyone posting in this forum, first do a search to see if you can find your answers on other threads. I can guarentee you if you question is along the line " of why wont they breed" or "I want to breed" you will find what the response will be just by reading past threads.

Keep in mind an open discussion forum, is NOT the place to gain your information on how to breed from. To do this properly you MUST begin your enquiry with your Vet or even the breeder you purchased your dog from. They can be good mentors for you if you wish to head down the breeding path.

If you do choose to post a question along these lines, be prepared for the fact that it may attract answers that you dont like to hear.

There is a very strong sense on I-love-dogs, that breeding is not done light heartedly or in a foolhardy manner, and a massive support for careful, thoughtful and well plotted approaches to a potential breeding pair.

If you read through the many threads here you will discover gut renching experiences of pet owners who have lost, or in some cases worse still, have to manage horrid medical conditions, indicating poor, hodge podge breeding.

YouTube - Think Occasionally of the Suffering.
YouTube - Animal Overpopulation Consequences
YouTube - In Hope, An Animal Shelter Story

Please watch the videos, if they tug at your heartstrings, if they make you feel some emotion, think before considering breeding. It is something that should be done with much thought, with plans on being equiped to take back any dog you have bred if the owners no longer want it, with the ability to care for the pups LONG term future.

If you can watch them and feel no emotion, or prevoke any thought, then you dont have the heart, the soul, the love to begin breeding in the first place.

Very good posting. Its hard not to get a hot head, especially coming from a mommy to two rescues (both of which are purebred boxers). I also make plain nylon collars for a local rescue group and she basically just pays for the materials so she can send every rescue home with a new collar and I see her at least once or twice a month at her adoption days and she gets a lot of Shihztu's coming her way. She gets a ton of BYB and puppy mill dogs where the puppies "just didnt turn out right" and are dumped like a sack of trash.:-(

Same here and appreciate the thread Nattie. I do appear at times to be one of the "hotheaded" ones but after the years of dealing with the poorly bred dogs that I have rescued from those who do not know what they are doing, it adds up. I have been involved in rescues long before it was a mainstay in our society.
It is unfortunate that as stated in the past, our technology has surpassed our humanity and in this sense leads many to avoid learning things the correct way and instead seeking quick answers to questions that in most cases truly cannot be answered in the internet. I hope that one day our humanity regains the lead wherein we look at the computer and internet as what it truly is, just a resource. Not a cure all for everything. I currently have 14 rescues that I have taken in with more that will probably be here before I know it. It is one thing to breed but at the same time a breeder needs to be responsible and be accountable. Failing to do this only leads us further away from being truly humane.

Default Very good

Yes, a great post, and much needed.
If you influence even one person, it will have been worthwhile saying something.
I unfortunately could not watch the videos, I have never toughened up enough about the cruelty of man to animals to be able to witness it without losing sleep, if not my sanity, but to all those of you who can, and who do the very necessary work, I salute you.
