Default "Sick" Puppies

HI! I am new and have a honest question to ask of any of you who breed your dogs. What happens if you sell a puppy to someone and when they take the puppy to their vet for a checkup it is found to have a health problem, such as a heart murmur? What becomes of the puppy if you offer a health guarantee and take it back?

It will depend on the problem and how severe. Options include finding a home with somebody who is able to deal with the problem financially/emotionally (by providing necessary surgery or/and medications), keeping the dog until the condition is under control and then finding a home being fully honest about the situation or Euthanasia if the dog is suffering and unable to have a quality life.

Default What if..

Hi,
I breed and if a puppy was found to be sick i will take the puppy back.
If you mate 2 dogs deliberately then you are responsible for the offspring. A good breeder will make sure puppies have a vet check before going to their new homes, something serious like a heart problem would be picked up. Generally puppies are healthy and you will have little problems if you follow a few simple rules.
Breed for temprement and to correct breed standard, size of dog etc.. , make it your business to find out about any problems either parent may have had. DNA test where possible.Care of the dam is very important before and after breeding correct diet for dam while pregnant. make sure calcium levels are good before puppies are born. i have a shih tzu who i blood test 10 days before whelping to check her sugar, calcium etc. it is a very responsible and worrying job if done properly... I live in europe and Puppy mills are a real problem, they breed poor quality puppies for a quick buck..
I would be more than happy to try and give you any info i can if you decide to breed...
