 How can I tell if she's pregnant?
My dog went into heat in July. She became a bit of an escape artist at that time. Every time she went outside when I was around, I went out with her, but my family wasn't as cautious. She got out of the yard multiple times for I don't know how long. I don't know of any unaltered dogs in my neighborhood and I didn't see any around my house, but anything is possible. I have a male dog, but he was neutered about nine months ago and they tied 2-3 times. At this point, she would be about a month along if anything happened. I've been trying to watch for signs like loss of appetite and weight gain. She has never been the kind of dog that got excited to eat and doesn't eat much, so that hasn't been a good indicator. I'm taking her to get a haircut Friday to better watch her weight as she is pretty scruffy and her hair is pretty long right now. About 2-3 weeks after her heat ended, she had some vomiting and was acting mopey and testy, so maybe morning sickness. She hasn't been very tolerant of our other dog and is quick to snap at him. What else should I be looking out for? I know the best way to know for sure is to go to the vet, but I'm unemployed and can't afford that right now.
