First of all, are you looking for show quality or pet quality? That will have a significant impact on the price of the puppy. I'm not familiar with the breed you're looking for but I'd suggest that you contact a number of breeders and discuss what you're looking for in a dog.

Ask a lot of questions. A good breeder will be willing to take the time to answer all of your questions and concerns. If you come across a breeder who is not willing to do this, strike them off of your list immediately.

There are many dog forums out there that are breed specific. Join one and ask the members about their experiences and ask for recommendations for reputable breeders.

I have a male mastiff that has a puppy showing at Cruffs dog show in England in March. His puppies of show quality are $2,500 to $3,000 dollars. His pet quality are $1500 to $1700. I love my Hawthorn he is about 220 lbs. 30 in. at the shoulder and 33 in. neck. Be ready for Bruises but when they grow out of the puppy stage at about 3 it is all worth it.

Between $2000-$3500 is about average in this area. You will want to make sure the breeders tests the parents hips, heat, eyes, elbows, and other genetic issues that are prevelant in Mastiffs.

Question

Yea, would you like a show quality Mastiff or just one for the purposes of being a pet? If just a pet, consider adopting one from a rescue group which would cost you next to nothing in most cases.

Yes, if you are only looking for a pet, get one from a mastiff rescue. They normally run between $250-400 from a rescue. And if you get an adult, most of those are already house trained for the most part.
