Default Failing puppy?

Have you ever had a puppy fail? I have never had one before but, now I have a yorkie that was born 3.3 oz is a week and a half old and now weighs 2.9 oz. her two littermates have almost doubled in size. I have been bottle feeding her. My vet said 1/2 teaspoon every 3 hours but she seems to be getting smaller still. Do you have any recommendations?

I really don't know much about this---Have you checked out the net. I found this: Bottle-feeding and hand-raising newborn orphaned puppies, whelping supplies, and recipes for supplementing new born orphans - from Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia--Be sure to scroll all the way down the page. If you put words on this order: bottle feeding 2 week old puppy--in your browser you will find much more--I only checked this one out--pressed for time. I am sure our moderator, Yogi, can give you good advice as he has prob. done this many times before. I will alert him to your question---So be looking for more answers soon.

What are you feeding her? Is her stomach filling up when you feed her?
Though in some cases a bottle fed pup may gain then lose it does not necessarily mean you are losing it. I use goats milk warmed. It is the closest thing to a dams natural milk and has the necessary anti bodies and fat a pup needs. Double check the feeding schedule with the vet, sounds like it needs to be increased or needs to be fed more. A 1/2 teaspoon for a pup even this small that is trying to grow does not sound like it is enough. Suckling til it is full but not to the extent that the stomach is extended is what you should be looking for. Good luck.
