Question help needed on finding a certain breed of dog.

Hi... My boyfriend and I have a mini schnauzer and love them so much we are wanting to get a giant schnauzer as his playmate bc he loves playing with bigger dogs... Does anyone know of a giant schnauzer breeder??

Your best bet is to go to AKC and look on their breeder registry if you have not just done a generic "Giant Schnauzer breeder" search for your state on the internet.
Also, are you sure you could not just look for standard Schnauzer. Giants can be just that, and are greatly larger than the standard and Miniature Schnauzer.
Coming in around 18 to 20 inches and 25 to 40lbs, for a Miniature Schnauzer, this would be more ideal size. I breed Miniature Pinschers that are in the 11 to 13 inch and 12 to 14lbs range and their favorite dog to play with is my German Pinscher who is 19 1/2 inches and 40lbs. Just something to think about.
Here is a link to some breeders...

Thumbs up

I never thought of that thanks soo much... We did look into the standard schnauzers but our mini is big for his size and we are always asked if he is a standard so thats why we wanted a giant and my boyfriend wanted a dog that would make a good guard dog as well as be a great playmate. Again thanks soo much for the info!!

To note, a little breed information. The standard Schnauzer makes for an excellent guard dog. All I have to do is watch my German Pinscher. You see, the German Pinscher is actually a smooth coated standard Schnauzer. They came about in the mid 1700's but to this day no one knows how it happened the wired haired standard Schnauzers started throwing smooth coated pups. By the inception of the Pinscher/Schnauzer Klub of Germany in 1895, they elected to recognize the breed separately from the standard Schnauzer giving it the official name "Deutscherpinscher" English translation, German Pinscher. Zeke is an excellent guard dog and very powerful for his size. As with the standard Schnauzer, they are territorial and very protective. Being that Zeke was raised from a pup of 17 weeks with Miniature Pinschers, getting a young standard and raising it with your Miniature would ensure better result with bonding. In Zeke's case it is the ugly Dachshund philosophy, he thinks he is a Miniature Pinscher...
