Default Jack russell terrier puppy

I have the most adorable 5 month old Jack and I love him to pieces. I was worried about getting this breed as everyone said "you got a jack russell, good luck!" Well I have to say he's so well trained, such a good boy. My question is will this temperment of his stay this way well in to his adulthood or is the spazzing behaviour yet to come? I would love to hear from someone with a Jack russell to ease my head.

Thanks,

aj1

By definition, Terrier: any breed of dog created by man for the purpose of ferreting out vermin ie: mice, rats etc. These breeds are generally high energy and can remain this way well into their senior years. This though does not mean that there are those that do not comply with their inherit traits. Over the years, many terrier breeds have lost some of what they were bred for and have become more inline with being just pets. It sounds like you have one of those. It can be a blessing if you have little or no Terrier experience.

I've had Jack Russells for most of my adult life (except for a time when I couldn't bring myself to get another one after the death of my old dog!)

Jack Russells are highly intelligent, very active and many of them retain powerful working instincts. If their needs are met then they are no harder or more difficult than any other breed. My dog is from a working home and is a highly tuned hunter type. But he lives peacefully in our house with our children and other pets.

Outside he indulges his urges to dig and be a dog, inside he is a pet.

I would never want to live without a Jack. It sounds like your boy is very happy and content so keep doing what you're doing!
