Default Is Your Dog from a Rescue?

I just wondered how many people on here had got their dog from a rescue?

Mine is and he's not a bad lad at all. A mixed breed that's big and ugly, but he's got a heart of gold and gets on with all my other animals including the goats and sheep.

Mind you, he can be a handful and I can't help wondering how he came to be living in a city originally!

I got my dog, Rocky from the shelter. He's a mixed breed, I refuse to call him a mutt. What he's mixed with, I have no idea, but he is the sweetest dog ever. When he get excited he backflips.

Mine did'nt come froma rescue but I did rescue him from going to the pound! A freind had three dropped on her doorstep and we found homes for the other two and kept the female. I could'nt imagine these pups at our pound its so dirty and just nasty. I feel for all the pets at our pound. Anyway we've had her a week and she is the best dog ever!

I got my big baby dog Gracie from one of my husband's mothers's boyfriends she had had several boyfriends as my daughter calls it but yes that is where we got our dog from. She seems to likw women alot better than men so we kinda wonder if he was mean to her.

I don't know about that one.
The fact that she doesn't seem to like men I mean.

I'm sure there is a link there somewhere, but whether it's a direct link, I don't know.

I used to have a staffie that hated all...wheelbarrows!!!

I don't think one had ever attacked her though

My dog Abby is from a rescue, but we got her as a puppy. We wanted so bad to adopt a full-sized dog (on several trips before Abby), but they absoultely denied because they said that they will not adopt them to houses with children. :???:

I don’t know if this counts but I’m looking to adopt a dog. I am not looking at the pound but I would like to actually adopt a retired greyhound racing dog.

Of all my dogs (about 6 in all, over the course of 25 years), only one has NOT been a rescue dog/pound puppy.

Three of mine were rescued from the pound on the day they were going to be euthanized. {My vet was also the vet for the pound and she would call me.} One was rescued from a box, another was starving to death, and the last one was going to be sent to the pound, but I took her instead - owner said she was untrainable. Six in all.

2 of my dogs are from a rescue. One was dumped off in a field when it was a baby, we got our other one from the pound.

We rescued our dog, Homer, from the pound. He's such an energetic and loving dog. We're so lucky to have him.

I have four dogs. One of them was adopted from a home that was getting rid of her, and the other three all came from animal control. I have strong feelings about adopting dogs vs. breeding them, and I would never purchase a dog from a breeder or a pet store.

None of my dogs are from a shelter. I got 2 from a good breeder. The other one was going to be given to the pound, so I offered to give him a home.

One of our dogs, Maizie is from the Pound, which I consider a rescue. She is the best dog. She is sweet, gentle, affectionate and obedient. She was six months old when we got her. She was found wandering (and I believe that, because she got out of the house, despite our best efforts 9 times in the first two weeks we had her.) Probably a Border Collie. The other came from a pet store, and is older. My son's dog is from the dog pound, too. She is a great dog (10 or 12 weeks when we got her).
We know someone who works for a rescue group. The dogs are just great, and they are very appreciative of the homes they acquire. I was apprehensive about getting a dog from the pound or a rescue dog, because I thought they were dogs that would be difficult to train, or had behavior issues. I have come to learn that is most often not the case, rather, the owners did not have the understanding to own a dog, or were unwilling to devote the time or energy, which amounts to the same thing. For those who are reluctant to go to the dog pound - you could save a great dog, and there are a lot of 4 or 5 month old puppies who have ended up there due to absolutely no misconduct or bad deed.
