We got her from a man he was already grown but she jsut does not like men that well. She likes women better. She does like my husband but it took her some time before she would have anything to do with him. It was funny she followed me around so I would set on the couch well her she would come and set right beside me then one day I went and set in my husband's lap well her she came and set in my lap right there all of us was setting on my husband it was so funny. so then I get up and she follows.

If he was mean to her I think she would probably be afraid of men rather than just have a preference for the company of women. It could just be that he didn't pay much attention to her. In addition, women have a tendancy to "nurture" even when it comes to dogs which could be why some dogs appear to like them better.

Yes this may be true Thanks for youy reply I never thuoght of it like this. You could be right I bet that he didn't show her that much attention and that may be why she likes women better.

Was there a woman in the household that you got her from? My male dog likes men better. When I got him, he was already an adult. The people that had him before just started living together & Spike belonged to the guy before the girlfriend moved in. When my husband is home, I mayas well not be saying anything! LOL Spike doesn't pay attention to me at all when my husband is home because he took my husband in place of his previous master, despite the fact that I'm the one that's always here. LOL

We used to have a dog that I got when working in a rescue kennels years ago.

She hated men, but I never knew why, as I got her when she was about 6 weeks old.
It seemed to be out of fear more than anything else. Maybe sometimes they see men more as a threat and feel they have to defend themselves?
