I've been using Frontline, but it doesn't work for very long. Hopefully someone could recommend something stronger.

I just buy regular shampoo. Flea shampoo doesn't really last all that long any way & they soap & water will kill the fleas. I use Zodiac flea drops. They work pretty well. You can get those at PetSmart for pretty cheap.

I tend to treat the house in a preventative move, rather than treat the dog.
Although I do use Ruby powder on him every so often.

Fleas actually live and breed on furnishings, and only go on the dog to feed. So you aren't actually getting on the eggs and things if you just do the dog.

If you use household flea powder and spray on your carpets etc and then vacumn off when it's had time to work, then you kill them at source.

Someone told me once that they gave their dog garlic pills I can't remember how many a day I would say maybe one a day and that would help with fleas. I have thought about trying this. Thanks Butterfly dreams for the suggestion I will give that stuff a try.

You should use frontline or advantsge my best friend is a vet and she says that walmart and petsmart stuff DOES"NT work. They need a precription med. About your home they have flea bombs you can let off, but if you don't treat the dog the bombs won't stop the fleas from reappering. And soap and water ODES"NT kill fleas, my dad has worked in pest control for 27 years and can tell you the only way to kill fleas is with chemical. You can have your lawn chemically treated too. I would have the dog flea dipped, treat your home and put frontline or advantage on the dog. Fleas do they there eggs in the dogs fur as well as in your home, so you need to treat both dog and home. Good luck!

Wonder if you have to have the dog checked to be able to buy the frontline? I don't really have the money for both and I am going tohave to wait until next week before I can go buy this.
Thanks for the help I used frontline forever until I ran out I bought the kind in a spray bottle it lasted for years.
