Question Your Dogs Roomates?

Just curious as to what other pets your dog lives with or has as friends

We have alot..I was going to school to be a vet technician sooooo well...things happen LOL.

We have 6 ferrets ( Isis, Thor, Ravyn, Wurmy, Fatty & Bear Bare), 3 lizards ( Fluffy {bearded Dragon}, YaaYaa {Plated Lizard} & Stanley Steamer {Lep Gecko}, a rat ( named Big Ben he is my baby), a bunny ( jackalope) and the two dogs...

How about you?

We have a 10 gallon fish tank with two small bull frogs named Jeremiah and Jessikah and some fancy guppies, two parakeets one named Hellion he is a violet cinnamon color and his girlfriend Maxine, she's yellow and green. And our Cockatiel his name is Paco and likes to sit on heads and dive bomb the dogs heh

I have 3 Pit Bulls (Spike, Star & Denali), 2 beta fish (Sunrise & Sunset) & 4 little baby mice that were nested in our carpet when we put it down. I haven't named them yet because they don't even have their eyes open yet & I'm waiting to make sure I can keep them alive.

If you need any help with the mice let me know I use to breed Rats, and I myself caught 2 baby mice in our kitchen when we moved to our apartment. It seems someone in another building had a snake and was breeding mice, and when they moved they just released them everywhere :-O
So I have experience in it... is the mom still around ? What are you feeding them?

We have a hermit crab, and the 2 dogs. That's it right now... We had fish, but the water where we live was not so good for keeping them alive. Either that, or it's me, because I even used bottled water when we got the second round of fish that died on us. So now I have an empty 10 gal glass aquarium with all the fish equipment sitting in my closet... Hubby wants to get a lizard or maybe a rat, but I told him no because of the baby, I don't want her getting bit by a small animal that escaped its cage.

I would not get a rat for a 10 gallon tank...tanks are bad for rats because of their sensitivity to respiratory infections and the lack of ventilation is a breeding ground for it.
However, most pet stores carry things like Geckos, more specially a Gargoyle or Leopard gecko, are very docile and wouldn't bite even if they did escape and they can live in a smaller tank like that. If he feels like getting creative, he could also make a small terrarium and get some rain forest type frogs Could be a fun project for him. Frogs like the extra big green tree frogs, tomato frogs, white tree frogs...woul avoid the poison dart frogs though...just for your peace of mind

Thanks. I appreciate that. I seem to be doing pretty good so far. I've had them for 2 days now. My dad killed the mother before my hubby saw the babies. I have been feeding them warm milk mixed with water. I don't know what else to feed them. Could you PM me? I can give you my e-mail address so I can ask you more questions & not take up the whole board talking about my baby mice. LOL Thanks

My son has 4 goldfish that live in a tank in his bedroom. I live with 6 Siberian huskies and unfortunately the breed has a very high prey drive so small furries and cats are out of the question. Hubbie's a vet so we do have the occasional injured bird in the Garage until it's fit enough to be released.

We have 2 Spyhnx ( Hairless cats) they are about 7 mths there names are Ducky and Prinney. And we have a 9 week old American Staffordshire Terrier/pit bull pup named Blue, and a hamster named Ham bone.
The cats came from a breeder and were VERY sick so when we took in the puppy 3 weeks ago they had to be kept away from the pup untill they were clear of all there infections, so for the past three weeks they have been kept in my tanning room, its a small room that is air conditioned and it has my tanning bed in it, so anyway they have'nt been around eachother, till today they got a clean bill of health and so we are going to be introducing them to the puppy. he is on our screened in patio at the moment while the cats get used to being back in population. LOL They just keep staring at eachother through the window its gonna be funny when they finally meet.

We also have a cat named Yoda (a stray we picked up off the street) who's been living with us for about a month and a half. Sad to say, she and my one-year old mutt, Kingdom, can’t seem to get along. Kingdom’s really curious about the cat, sniffing her every chance he gets, but Yoda just bristles at the attention. Any ideas on how I can get these two to be friends?

We have 9 dogs, 3 cats, 4 birds, chickens and a lot of fishes in our compound. So just imagine how wild our area is. It is much wilder when some of the dogs got loose. It’s a wild goose chase and a tremendous exercise for my part. With all of this animals in compound I only own one dog.

The only thing I can think of is, just make sure that Kingdom is nice to the cat. Maybe Yoda has had some bad experiences with dogs. So just make sure that Kingdom is nice every time & maybe Yoda will come around. It will take time though.

Labradorian-That's a TON of animals! LOL

When I adopt a dog they will be sharing space with my 4-year-old autistic daughter, 4 fish, and me. I think that should be enough fun for any dog LOL
