That stinks... Can he get those allergy shots so the symptoms aren't so bad?

No no no of course not get rid of the dog dear He's your baby.
Get a new boyfriend
LOL Just kidding
How allergic is he? I am actually allergic to dogs as well. some breeds more than others...like ones with short course hairs..min pins, bulldogs, etc. Throw me into a sneezing frenzy, but nothing a little clariton or benadryl doesn't clear up. I'm slightly allergic to my own dogs as well, have allergy issues in the morning since they sleep with us, but it clears up after a bit, and it is not nearly as bad as when we first got them. I got use it it over time and the symptoms were not as bad. May be the same way with him?
Or is he the type that is so allergic he needs an inhaler?

It depends on how allerigic he is. If its just minor a lil sneeze or runny nose that can be taken care of through his doctor with allergy meds. If its so bad that hes sneezing non stop, eyes itch, burn and run and his nose runs or he gets hives or breathing problems, then he should not move in with you and if down the line you guys are seriuos about living together and starting a life togther then the dog may have to go. But if he were that allerigic you would already know because dander and fur get on your clothing and your skin and he would have a reaction from just being near you if it was really bad. But he could really be allerigic have you seen his reaction around your dog?

welcome to the allergy club!
i'm allergic to most things (dust, pollen, fur, perfume, sudden change of temperature, food, yada, yada, yada...) that it is a miracle I am still alive!
but as time goes by, I learned not to take meds on the first signs of attack...most times I fight back by showering (somehow cleans my nasal passages, and the ions from the water coming from the shower relaxes) and facing the sneezing bouts head-on. the doc said this will also make me develop some immunity to the allergens as well as not make myself be dependent on meds.

I have both a dog allergy and asthma. That was a big deciding factor on our breed, German Shorthaired Pointer.
Your boyfriend "should" become accustomed to being around the dog. As long as the dog isn't sleeping in your bed. I still react to my dog, but not nearly as bad as I did when he came home six months ago.
