Talking eat your pet or starve?

if you ever found yourself in a survival situation and had no food but had your pet there, would you eat your pet to survive? I`ve always thought Cassandra's back legs looked like 2nice meaty turkeyleg portions.

Interesting question. The thought alone makes me queasy, but one really can’t say what he or she will do in a life-threatening situation. I can’t imagine willingly hurting my dog, but I can certainly understand how seemingly repulsive things tend to look delectable when one's really hungry, much less starving.

I don't think that I could bring myself to do it. The only way would be if my pet was starving too, and was going to die anyway. I think I might be able to do it if they died on their own, but I don't think I could ever kill them.

I'd starve. Although Rocky's hind legs do look like drumsticks. He's all muscle, the meat would be tough anyway.

I just couldn't do it, he has been my friend for so long, I would just have to starve along side of him. At least as I was dying, I would know that I treated him, with the same kindness and respect he has given me.......

That's certainly an interesting question. I think I'm with SeeSpotRun, I don't think I could do it if he wasn't already dead. And I'm not sure I could do it then, but it's hard to speculate on what you'll do in a situation of desperation.

Unhappy

I don’t think I could do this. I would rather die starving than eat my dog. I consider him as a member of my family, and not just a pet. With the happiness he provides me and my family. Never in my mind will I do it.

Pupcake, I'm sure Cassandra's had the same thought about you.

You know, I have thought the same thing about the back 2 legs... Spike's got some thighs that I regularly straighten out my hand, and kind of smack in like a tenderizing way... He loves it! ... But he has no idea I'm just preparing him for that fateful day

No.. Actually, I agree. I'd rather die peacefully from starvation, than having to disembowel my baby.
I guess it's all good, he wouldn't taste good anyway.

I don't really ever see myself eating my baby dog. Gross it makes me sick to even think about it.
