have you ever tasted dog meat?
Have you ever tasted dog meat, knowingly or unknowingly? I don't mean to offend my fellow dog lovers here, but there are indeed places, especially in the rural areas, where eating dog meat is as natural as eating pork or beef or fish. As for me, I have been offered several times but whenever I'm offered to eat anything that I'm not so familiar with, I always ask, good thing maybe that I'm not fond of exotic food.

I think it is a logical question. If this were a cow or pig forum people would ask the same question...
I have never tried dog meat, and never will. Just because I am such a fan of dogs and I figure if I never had it, I don't need it. I have never gone anywhere where they served dog...with the exception of Mexico...but still stayed away from it.
I am not a fan of trying new things though... like goose and ostrich.. I will stick to chicken and turkey.

No I haven't and I don't plan to. In the rural areas of China they love dog meat. When I was over there one of the tour guides told me they eat it during the winter because they believe it warms the body.

There's absolutely no way I'm going to eat dog meat. I love dogs. For me, it's like eating another human being. Thinking about it makes me nauseous.
If ever I accidentally eat dog meat, I'll never forgive the person who offered me the food.

We live in Korea where the debate over eating dog has been done to death. I won't get into such a debate here, but I will answer the question. Yes, I've eaten dog in Korea, China and the Phillipines. I first ate dog in Korea during a night out with student friends who thought it would be funny to unknowingly feed a stew with dog meat to the foreigner....wasn't bad, a bit too rich and chewy for my taste. In China, I was treated to a banquet dinner by the Dean of Students of our school and the local delicacy being dog, I couldn't really refuse. Another time, in the Phillipines I was stranded in a small remote village during a typhoon....was there for three days and the only food available was dog, which they had preserved in tuna cans for just such an emergency.
Final verdict: I prefer beef and pork, but dog will do in a pinch.

I've never tried it and it wouldn't be high on my list of meats to try (and would probably come after horse, another one I don't really want to try), but I suppose if I were someplace where it was customary, and I were really hungry I would. Sunny is safe from my carnivorous depredations, though.

I think even if I were in a place where it were customary and I was starving, that I would be able to find something else to eat before that no matter what. Rice or noodles or bamboo sticks or ...grass and weeds LOL anything but that!
