What makes dogs special?
What makes your dog special?
My dog is my best friend. He is very special for me. Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate. That's why my dog deserves a special treatment from me. Is your dog special too?

I'd say that dogs give their owners unconditional love.
You could have a terrible day, but when you come home your dog thinks you're the greatest person in the world.

All of my dogs are very special to me in different ways. My 2 min pins always know when Im upset and they jump in my lap and give me kisses to cheer me up! They are like little people to me.

Abby is special because she cuddles up to me, now matter what time of the day, she is always by my side. :-D She is also our little protector.
Brutus is special because even though he is a Great Dane he thinks he is a lap dog..lol. He tries to cuddle on the couch, but I end up just having to get off. He always has those big sloppy Dane kisses to give. He is also great with my daughter. If she is out of his sight for too long, he goes lookin for her and follows her around, always watching her.
They really do have unconditional love for their owners that never stops. You can just tell how much they love you.

Loyalty and unconditional love, absolutely. Also, my dog is protective of me, even though she's under 20 lbs. She "guards" me and the children when my husband is away on business!

I would have to agree on their giving their unconditional love. Sometimes you're having a bad day and they'll be there to cheer you up. Sometimes their liveliness sorts of boosts your spirits. They're not your everything but they can be anything, a friend, companion, a guard or protector.

Bandit loves us unconditionally, that's for sure. He always runs to the gate when my husband comes home from work and dances & talks to my husband while he's getting his lunchbox & stuff from the truck. He's not happy until my husband leans over the fence and pats him on his head. While my husband is at work, he always stays close to the back door, where he can 'keep an eye' on us while hubby's at work. Whenever I go outside to throw a load of laundry in, he follows me into the laundry room & watches me. He's so protective of us.
Whenever we go shopping, he greets us at the gate, just the same way as he does my husband. When I go for a walk, he does almost the same thing, if I don't take him.

When you love your dog and she loves you back then that makes her special.

Yes, my dog has always been my friend and family. Dogs do not care if you do not look good that day. When you are sick they will stick by you. They are also good listeners. I lost my dog about 3 years ago, Great Preneese, Shadow, who was the best dog in the world to me. We recentely got a puppy, Sadie, 1/2 English Fox Hound (large size) beige & white and 1/2 Great Pyreneese. Even though we have only been together 2 weeks I can tell she is a great dog. Take care.

I would have to agree with "All of the Above", from what others have poste. It's hard to imagine how boring our lives would be, if we didn't have our "Furry Friends" in our lives..........

Unconditional love for sure! If your dog shows you affection it is genuine and not because it is looking to gain anything from you. Our dogs are also special because they are so caring towards our kids and love nothing better than to go out and play with them.

I love the personality of dogs. My own, and others that I meet.
The dog I had growing up (Snoopy) had a cute habit. He'd often sleep at the end of my bed. When I'd get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I'd get back to my room and sure enough, he'd lying with half his body on my pillow. I'd look at him, and he'd look at me, as if maybe I didn't notice he'd moved. Finally he would sigh.... LITERALLY sigh at me. Most times to show his discontent with my having come back to intrude on HIS move, he'd leave the bed all together, as if punishing me by denying me his company.
Oh yes, the personality of the canine!!!!
