 Favorite dog story
Hi,
What's your favorite dog story involving your furry friend?
When I was in college, I was walking my dog. Three kids on bikes came by and were just trying to be mischevious. The blocked the way and started giving me a hard time (all the while I'm thinking... they're kids, do they really think I'm scared of them?)
One of them says "Mister, I don't like the way your dog is looking at me." So I tell him "Then don't look at him. In fact, just get out of our way."
So acting all big and tough, this young teen says "I don't like your dog." and goes to KICK my dog!!!!
Instincts took over, and Smokey caught the kid's foot ankle in his mouth. I could tell he was grabbing him just hard enough to hold him, but not so hard that he was going to hurt him. Smokey just stared and growled at the kid.
When the kid's two friends took off on their bikes, the kid started to get scared, and said "Hey Mister, tell your dog to let me go."
So I asked the kid if he was going to give me or anyone else a hard time. He stuttered a "No" back at me, and I just said "Okay, Smokey" and flicked his leash. Smokey let go of the kid's ankle without any harm.
While I wouldn't have been scared of these kids who were just barely teenagers, it was good to know that Smokey was there to protect me. |
