My grandmother is in an assisted living facility. The facility has dog visits sometimes from people whose dogs have been designated by the state as qualifying to be "Therapy Dogs" which means basically they've proven to be gentle, have had all their shots, etc. It's proven to be a big hit with all the residents.

Does anyone else out there own, or know of a "Therapy Dog?"

I've seen them featured on TV magazine shows, but I don't have one.

It's nice that people in the facility can benefit from the dog's visit.

I've heard about these type of dogs. They're great for companionship and they give senior citizens a chance to have fun. I've also heard about using rabbits and dogs at burn care clinics to teach children to like touching things again.

The greyhound,Darcy I had co-ownership of was a therapy dog... and many of the greyhounds here among the organization are.

You know Ive also heard of these dogs being in the prisons. They say its good therapy for the inmates as well.
