Default Beware of Dogs

I saw some house in our town put a note outside their fench "Beware of Dogs". Does it mean that the dog they are taking care of inside the house is dangerous? What's the best thing to do if the dog keeps barking on you?

The sign doesn't necessarily mean that the dogs are dnagerous. Maybe they want people to think they are. My dogs aren't dangerous, but the mobile home park that I live in requires people to put up a "beware of dog" sign if they have dogs over 30lbs (which all of my dogs are). So I had to put up a sign.

As far as the barking, if the dog's not lunging at you or anything, I would just ignore it. Hope this helps.

Putting a sign up that says beware of dog is something that ALL dog owners should do. Your dog may not be aggresive but it needs to be known that there is a dog there. That way you are protecting yourself in case something does happen.

I also see signs in my city with pictures of specific breeds that say "I live here." I think it's a reminder in case of a fire that there's a dog in the house.

I think you're better safe than sorry in both cases.

we certainly use our "beware of dog" sign to help frighten off bad individuals. we also have dogs that would undoubtedly harm anyone who threatened harm to us or our property- i personally feel much safer with my dogs than without. But i will say that such signs are as much about protecting others as they are about protecting us. giving our neighborhood the heads-up that our dogs are around lets the meter reader know not to jump the fence, or new people that might not like dogs that we have them, etc.

I think of putting a sign "Beware of Dog" in our fench just to prevent the attact of properties stealer. But the truth is I don't really have a dog inside, do you think I'm idiot?

Not at all. I've known people that do that. But I've also heard the gangbangers in Long Beach laugh at them. They said that the people also need to get a motion-sensor dog barking thing, because if they go to the property that has that sign and there is no dog barking, they know that it is fake. Of course, one of those kids got bit by a silent Rottweiler. LOL
