[Homers Mom]

Hi,
I just got a 2 year old Doxie named "Homer". I am first time dog owner and feel as though I did when I first had my son-nervous and anxious as I feel like I don't know what I am doing.
I have read and read and read as much as I can about dogs and it seems as though most agree to put your dog in a kennel during the day.
My dog has been with me for 5 days and the past couple of days, he pooped in our spare room. I have cleaned the spot with the stuff that takes the odor and specifically for pets, and felt it necessary to kennel him today. I am sitting here feeling so bad, and that I don't know what I am doing...
Help!!!

Look into crate training.It is not cruel,do not worry.Actually most dogs will eventually see the crate as a safe place for them.

I agree about the crate training. It works great and there are lots of helpful sites on the web. Just remember not to use his crate as a form of punishment, it is suppose to be his very own safe haven.

I have 3 dogs. They are 3, 2 & 1 yrs old. I have crated them all since they were little & now they love their crates. They go there on their own sometimes. It's not cruel. It just helps train them.
