i tried to get a new appartment with my 3 female adult german shepherds .i kept running into this .there on the dangerouse dog list so they wouldnt rent to me .i told them they are sweet not mean they could meet them if they wanted no dice this is not right .i also renewd my renters insurance to finde the same thing they would not cover me with german shepherds i had to go to another company and pay a high rate to cover my dogs .this is not right there are many owners with rotts and german shepherds and pitts that are very sweet .this is just wrong what do you think .

I completely agree with you.My personal opinion on this is that there are no bad dogs just bad owners.

Yeah, I know there are a lot of german shepherds that are good dogs, and people have suffered because they are known for being dangerous. I was considering getting one last year, but I figured it wouldn't be safe with my dachshund. I will note, though, that I grew up with a german shepherd, and he was a really nice dog to the family, but to everyone else, he was a killer.

Some dogs are really noted for what their general breed's reputation is. Other dogs are known as hunting dogs, too while others are guard dogs. Some dogs are just cute dogs and suitable as pets. Well, it is inevitable to label some dogs just because of their breed.

I agree with topterrier "no bad dogs only bad owners". People need to realize that. It's very sad.

But, what can be done about it????????? I also, own a GSD, I don't think that my insurance knows this. Will I tell them? H@@@ no!!

i once found on the internet.. (maybe thru peta.org...i cant remember exactly)..but a list ( a real list) of dogs that are prone to attacking..and german sheperds/pitbulls..were not at the top of the list...

look for this online and show it to your landlord.
even if its just to piss him off. :twisted:
