Default Aggressive behavior between family dogs

Hi, I have two male English Springer Spaniels father and son. Dad is about 11 years and the younger one is about 1 1/2. In the last 6-8 months there have been some fights between the two with some puncture wounds, mostly minor but scary nonetheless. I'm sure its a dominance thing they have to work out but I am really afraid one or the other will get seriously injured. The younger male has been raised with his dad and the most recent activity has been since they were boarded at a kennel for 10 days in seperate kennels. When I got them home I noticed something was different and sure enough a couple of fights have broken out. Seems as if they have to get used to each other again. I do notice the younger male still licks his dads face and ears which I think are submissive signs but he seems to be the one thats starts the fights. I live alone and cannot be with them all the time, they spend almost all of their time in the house with me when I am home and outside when I am not. Both are intact.
My questions is what can I do about this besides taking them to a trainer (not an option since I live in a very rural area).. Will neutering help? Thanks for any and all advice.

Default

time to keep them separated. the younger one is no longer a puppy and the older one knows it. fights will continue. the only good thing about boys is they wont fight to the death. bi tch's will continue to fight until one of them is dead...boys however will only fight until one or both are very hurt and give up then they go to their separate corners to lick their wounds.

Default Nuetering Will Help

My vet told me that neutering does help agression in male dogs. I got my late male dog neutered as soon as he was old enough and he never had any agressiveness problems. Maybe you should talk to your vet and see if he agrees neutering is a good idea.
