My little Angel is 1 1/2 years old, maltese/lops..I got her at 8 weeks old. She is loveable and playful..but the problem is that everytime she drinks water she starts choking and snotting from her nose and then begins choking, runnign and gasping for air. I raised her food & water dish. She tends to stress more so when she drinks water than she does with foods. I have spent almost $500 for vets and they tell that she is in perfect health and cannot determine what is wrong with her, that it might be congential. Today I took her to an internist specialist and they wanted $1200 to scope her. Xrays revealed everything was normal. Does anyone else have any ideas on what I can do? I am so afraid that she will choke to death. I cannot afford to expense the medical bills. During her choking and gasping episode, I try to rub her throat, run with her (help her get over her gasping), and then give her some antihisame to calm her because she is so exhausted from her episodes.

Not sure if this is common with Maltese/Lops...the girl I got the dog from at birth, she is the runt of the litter, and she did the samething as a pup when she was nursing. I thought perhaps she would grow out of it..but doesn't seem like it. Any ideas to save my dogs life ..please share..I am desperate. Thank-you.
