| I have to do something!
There is a what looks like to be a sheltand sheepdog trapped in a fenced yard with no water and no food. She has a name tag but no adress. Her name is Meadow and is very sweet. She seemed to be very helthy but very thin. What I am wondering is why would someone leave that good of a dog to die!I threw a ball to see how she would react. She caught it and without me calling her, brought it back to me!She must have an owner but it looks like she hasnt beed fed or watered for months!I of corse take the time to feed and giver her water.....What should I do? |

OR you could just take the dog. but..... thats risky and controversial. because you are tecnically stealing someone elses property. someone may be coming by every other week to check on the dog. there might be a hidden automatic feeder and waterer somewhere, if there is then they arent breaking the law.
My aunt and uncle pissed me off when it came to my grandmother's two dogs..... my aunt and uncle are NOT dog lovers.. but they are my grandmother's care takers since she cant function mentally on her own any more. They didnt want to take her two big dogs to their house so they left them in her backyard, located about two hours away..... they had the automatic feeder, and a water trough and then they would drive out one or twice every two weeks to check on the dogs and fill up their feeder. they also got the neighbour's to look in on them and make sure the fence was still good.
Finally they decided to give the dogs to me since i spent themost time with them, but only after four years. When Lady and Sue got to my house they were skin and bones, caked in dry clay, and flea beds all over them. Lady used to be a sweet gentle outgoing dog towards me, but when i put aleash on her she went berzerk. and if you tried to pet her she would cower. she even bit my husband once when he tried to hold her by her collar. I dont know what happened to her but i think someone mistreated her badly during those four years.
Unbeknownst to my aunt and uncle, my husband and i would drive out to see the dogs when ever we could, like i said, it was two hours away. We even thought about stealing them and bringing them home, but our landlord at that time would have booted us out(he was scared of dogs, and Sue was a huge mean looking rotti mix).
their condition was fair, but could have been better when we visited them. but when they came to us they were horrible looking..... my aunt was embarrassed and i honestly think she had no clue they looked so bad. she relyed on her husband and her oldest son to take care of them, but i believe she realised they were only half ass doing the job..... Fortunately though, like i said, they were given to us, but i wish it had been sooner. she did offer to pay for their vet bills when we took them, and gave us a huge bag of dog food.
anyway.... its a tricky situation. you can either break the law, which is probably the best thing, but if you do..... do it at night lol but i suggest calling the authorities FIRST. |
I will call the authorites first...but if they put the dog up for adoption .....I will be the first one there!I gave her some food today..but she was soaking wet because its raining out...I feel so bad for her...I go see her like every 10 minutes....If it does not stop raining I HAVE to bring her in and keep her until it at least stops raining she is SO sweet...it also looks like she has been beaten ops: .......Thats it I am calling!!!!(dialing)
I will tell you the update in a few...

| Update...
They said they were going to contact SPACA and check the dog over and if the dog was helthy they would ethier hand the dog over to me or put it up for adoption but I am thinking on adopting her because she seems to be very friendly to my other dog ...no aggirsion what so ever with both dogs......She is very good with kids too.I have the time, stuff and the money for her.The dog has been beaten very many times and can not be handed to the real owner. She has been beaten in the face many times and her back has had some damage too......Wait hold on... I made my thought......I am adopting her!Now all they have to do it check her over and she mine!
(Welcome to the family Meadow!)

hand feed her for a little to start with, that way she'll associate you with food and good things, and you'll be able to take food and treats, or objects, away from her without incident.
she may seem wonderful right now, but she's desperate and you're a friendly face. just be careful. |
I will be very carefull.....And the SPACA is comeing in about 10 minutes!!! |
