get down to their level for one. do not make sudden moves is a good idea too. just be calm and remember dogs have keen senses and know how we think at times too.

You shouldn't show them you're afraid of them. They can feed off fear. If you want to pet a dog, pet the smaller ones, or those breeds that are for the most part harmless. It's a common thing to have a fear of dogs. An easy way to get over it is to get your own. It helps.

Do not sneak up on them. Cautiously approach the dog, then slowly, start stroking it along the back. If it doesnt growl, then it is probably OK with you, but back off if it starts growling, dont get any closer. I hope you have good luck with the dogs!Hope it helps

I use to have the same problem. Well, first you let the dog sniff you, then it will possibility lick you(disgusting at first but then I got use to it). My friend had dogs and every weekend we hang out I always play with the dog and eventually I got over my fear.

Wink dont be afraid just cautious

Alot of people are afraid of dogs--which is a good thing sorta-you should never just automatically assume all dogs are nice and friendly--thats how alot of people get hurt from dogs..especially kids..i grew up with dogs and other animals -most were friendly-let the dog smell you first -just be still- remember the dog may be just as scared as you are-the dog will likely either wag its tail and kiss @ lick you if they sense you are friendly-or the dog will growl -its better to be cautious if you don't know the dog- dogs can sense your fear as they can sense alot of things--so go slow --i dont agree you should get a dog if you are that scared of them--its hard to care for something your afraid of---maybe visit a dog park where friendly dogs play together or a pet shop where there are puppies and they are in cages so you can get used to them at your own pace--good luck -Dogs are alot of work and do require alot of attention but a good dog is a great companion-not all dogs are mean.

You shouldn't be scared of dogs. If you want to fight your fear, find a dog that someone you know has or that you know is friendly (most golden retrievers are good to approach and are usually extremely friendly, but calm). Always first ask the owner if you can pet their dog, then put out your hand to let them sniff it. After that, put your hand down the side of their head to their neck. Never put your hand above their head to pet the top of their head. This scares some dogs and may trigger them to nip.

Stay calm, don't run and do not show any sign of aggression. If you show any of the above, the dogs may deem you as a threat and attack you.

Well the first thing you need to know is that the majority of dogs arent mean. There are a few ones though. When first meeting a dog you need to remain calm, dogs can sence fear. Stick one arm out and let the dog sniff you hand. if the dog then approches you further than you can pet it if it walks away then leave it alone. Always let the dog have the oppertunity to sniff you out!!

Hey ti no laughing matter,my younger brother(RIP) had a fear of dogs he would avoid them when he could, one day on his way to visit his girlfriend a Labrador came running up it's garden barking at him, he moved out of it's way and it still kept coming at him, was crossing the road to avoid it when some guy ( who saw my brother 30 yards or so before he ploughed into him) killing him almost instantly, we did not find this out for a week, which as you can imagine was devastating for the whole family,I still miss him and never got to say goodbye, tore my world apart, and still does at times, get over that fear , try never to show a dog you fear them as they can smell the fear through your sweat gland in your wrist.Try and get to know dogs more and overcome that fear.Sorry I offloaded that on here,I would not wish that fear of dogs on anyone.Get some help if you need to,but please try get over the fear.peace out and bless up.

You have to pay attention to their body language. If they are wagging their tail, they're usually happy. If they are crouched down they are probably scared and could possibly attack if they feel threatened. Move slowly and hold out your hand for them to sniff. Don't just walk up to a dog you don't know and try to pet it! Let it get comfortable around you first.

Don't pet dogs if you are afraid of them. You can become acquainted nicely with a dog without touching him. Humans like to touch. Don't stick your hand out. Also, sometimes fear is misinterpreted as aggression. Just try to carry a calm, positive energy.

You don't have to necessarily pet them. just don't stop, don't hurry either, and if they bark at you, talk gently to them. And never ever turn your back at them.
