From personal experience I have found that maltese terriers, lhasa apso's and shitzus are not good around children. They tend to be a little precious and have low tolerance for being constantly bothered by kids.I can't advise on yorkies or pomeranians as I've never had one. We've had a silky terrier, a pug and a daschund and they were excellent with children of all ages. Very social happy little animals.

Yorkies are sweet, energetic, and playful. Kids love them and they love kids.

I would get either a yorkie or shih tzu cuz a pomerian is really active and barks a lot. But a both a beagle and a retriever gets along with kids, and is really obedient.

Yorkies = smart, jealous, small.... i personally like this one best.pomeranian = very cute, very lively, small. but this one sheds more than others on your list.shih tze = very stubborn, but quite, not too small. probably gets along w/ kids the best.maltese = very cute, very verbal, lively, small. loyal.maybe you should get other dogs w/ shorter hair cuz all the dogs on your list required grooming at LEAST twice a day!!

Well, Maltese are usually not good with children or for allergies. You should get a Shih tus or a Pomeranian. Yorkies and Pomeranians yap A LOT! Try a Shih tzu! GOOD LUCK!

Yorki's are generally very nervous dogs and are better as an only dog with seniors.........Pomeranian are very fragile dogs and can get injured easily, Shih tzu and Maltese are HIGH maintenance dogs, and shed alot..... If your children are under the age of 12 I would recommend a low maintenance dog. which is sturdy enough to handle children.... You seem to like the hairier breeds so I would recommend a toy poodle, miniature schnauzer, or bishon Frise.Other breeds would be a Pug, or small bulldog,I have owned a Sheepdog, shih tzu, Lhasa apso (similar to Maltese) Neither small dog was good with kids one would run and hide the other would just walk around growling and grumping........... I Now own a Mini Schnauzer, Have 2 kids 3 and 8 and She is the BEST dog I have ever owned she is not just a pet she IS part of the family (she bugs the kids as much as they bug her) they are NON-shedding and do not have the same wet dog odour other breeds can get.....They are low maintenance and very loving and loyal......... Pick the dog that best suits your lifestyle........ hope this helps

I would say either a maltese or a I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS! tzu. The smaller the dog the worse they usually are with kids but, then it also depends on how old the kids are. Most small dogs like poms or chihuahuas don't like being grabbed quickly or hugged realy hard. A I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS!I LOVE DOGS! tzu and a bigger maltese a much larger and can usually handle kids a lot better. If it were my choice personally i would definitely go with a larger dog. My family and I have adopted 3 greyhound and they have been living in my house for 4+ years. They are perfect for kids because they do have that need to get out and play. But, they also are not not hyper like a lab or a golden might be. They are big couch potatoes. A fenced in yard for this kind of dog would be best but I you don't have one a good walk 3 times a day would be best. Most rescues have dogs 1 or older so you don't even have to worry about potty training either. if you would like more information or questions about greyhounds my e-mail is girlfriday1325@yahoo.com
