or getting hurt? I was thinking about it for a bit, but dogs are pretty relentless when they're aggressive, so if you have a dog, any breed really, charging towards you, what can you do to make sure you get out of it with as little damage as possible?

i saw on oprah once they said its not good to roll into a ball and play dead, as once thought, because a dog continues to maul its prey after its dead!

I'd suggest ignoring it. Dogs seem to work on human reaction. If their actions are having no effect they are likely to stop. Dogs also have physical weaknesses which some people may suggest - as an ardent dog lover I am not one of those.

Avoid falling down as your face/throat are the most dangerous targets that a dog could attack, other than that I suggest you simply kick it if you are being attacked... (I neither advocate cruelty to animals, but if you are being severely attacked by a rottweiler or something you'd have no choice as this could be talking life or death).Dogs consider staring into it's eyes as a threat as well as sudden and loud movements, so you avoid doing that, and you should also avoid turning your back on it, as they see that as a 'go' signal to attack.I've had dogs my whole life so I can generally tell when a dog is going to attack, I move whatever part of my body is under threat as the dog goes to snap at it, and then I 'counter-attack' by grabbing it's scruff of the neck or by pushing its face away. It's easy to predict a dogs bite generally and you can use your hands to stop it as the dog will not be able to bite if you keep your hand above the nose/below the jaw.

Dogs work on a big dog basis....if you are finding your self being bitten.you have 2 choices..big dog..or little dog....your point of view..eat..or be eaten..the dog don't care..just looking for a leader..

Supposedly putting a finger or stick in its butt puts it off pretty fast but having the presence of mind to do that with all the adrenalin pumping might be easier said than done. Placing something, preferably large, between you and the dog is the best way. Grab what you can, a bike, large umbrella, even a backpack will provide an obstacle. Yell loud for help. They smell fear, yes, and it is pretty hard to turn that off when they are lunging at you so staying calm is probably out of the equation. Don't run, back away slowly, don't make eye contact and pray I guess.

Don't be stupid by making a fight with a dog coz if the dog is cracked u may be in hospital.lolzzz. Better way is to run like snake the dog will never be able to catch u coz there habit is to run just the way u r running and bcoz u r two legs u can easily move ur body right and left but the dog find it difficult just after some 1 km of non stop run the dog will leave u

Do something to hurt the dog. I was attacked by a large dog once. Although I sustained injuries, I also inflicted some on the dog. When he jumped up to grab me, I grabbed him behind the head and started punching him in the nose and poking my fingers in his eyes and kicking him in the groin. He soon realized pain wasn't for him and ran away.I had some injuries to my arms and wrists, but they were minor. It could have been much worse.
