Default Is my dog ok?

My dog was run over today and I took him to the vet, who really didn't spend to much time looking him over and told me he was fine aside from a little road rash. She gave him a pain killer and some antibiotics. Once home my little buddy wouldn't lay down and I'm afraid he may have some internal damage. Or maybe he's just shook up. He's a pretty big boxer so he is really strong. Should the pain killer knock him out?

No it should take away the pain. He will probably feel sorer tomorrow. As long as the vet listened to the insides I am sure he will be OK. Just love him and give him sympathy.

I would say to take her to another vet. Get a second opinion. I know it will get expensive, but its better then worring about it and if you are second guessing the vet anyway, then you are probably right about it.

Give him the pain killers and get a second oppinion tomorrow. If there are any serious issues I'd report the first vet to the ASPCA for an incomplete check up.

Yes, your dog is very shook up. Even if he didn't get hurt it's a terrible experience for your dog. I don't think the pain killers would knock him out, most doggy medicine doesn't do that, but I don't really know. When we gave our dog some pain killers it just made him drowsy, I guess it depends on the medicine, just like human meds. He's sore, and I'm sure he doesn't want to lay down, but if you are worried, I would call the vet's office and ask them about it. Poor dog, I hope he's OK.

Find another vet asap! They should probably keep him over night to make sure he is ok. I would even take him to emergency care, that vet you took him to needs to be fired. I hope everything works out ok!

The pain killer might not be strong enough to knock your dog out. Did the vet do xrays? I think if it were me, I would go back or to a different vet and tell them you are concerned that there could be internal damage. It certainly is a possibility that there could be internal damage. Better safe then sorry. I hope your little buddy feels lots better soon.

The vet must have a reason that they didn't ex-ray your dog. I'd wait a little couple days (max) and if he doesn't get a little more mobile, take him back in and get an ex-ray. My dog was run over a couple of years ago, they ex-rayed him right away because he had a visible wound, a broken leg.
