I dont have a dog, but i have a cat.I feed my cats dryfood like the adoption centers told me. I used to buy treats for the cats by feeding it can food, but now we feed it the dry food cat treats. I think you should be very careful on the can foods you buy for your dog, if your planning to. If your dog doesn't like dry food, i guess keep buying chicken and cook it ?

I am still feeding my dogs canned food for now. I'm just being cautious and making sure none of the food is on the recall list and not purchasing from companies that have had problems with the food that they sell. You just have to watch for the signs of kidney failure I guess and if you catch it quick it won't kill your pets. It is a very scary thing since they might recall Iams dry food now and have already recall hill's science diet feline m/d

For some dogs there is nothing bad with canned food. In fact in most cases it actually has more nutrients because unlike kibble the meats aren't cooked as long and thus stripped of all there nutrients. There are pros and cons of each type of food. However, the problem is not the fact that it is a canned food but rather there was a very serious error (or foul play?!) while processing certain ingredients. This is not the first time something like this is happened, and sadly will not be the last time. If you look back through history there are numerous occasions where a poisonous substance has made it into foods and has even killed people. For example arsenic was slipped into water, or there have been several e-coli scares in products such as bagged spinach, Odwalla, and in Seattle in the 90's at several Jack in the Box restaurants. So this should not be a reason to stop using a certain kind of food because it could pop up anywhere. However you should take great interest in your dogs diet and I suggest you get it the best diet you can afford. The higher priced dog foods are often made in smaller batches with higher grade meat. Unfortunately this does not mean they are free from ever becoming contaminated because humans can be careless, or even cruel. Home made food is awesome if you can afford it and as long as it is supplemented with all the oils and vitamins that are essential for good health (many of them get cooked out).

Canned food is made with mostly water plus garbage and also makes dogs fart - I would never so much as pick up a can in the supermarket.
