Labradors are so good with kids, and they need attention and kids love to touch dogs so they are a great match for familys. Plus there so smart...

Personally I would go for a Lab every time. They are (generally) calmer, less snappy and have better temperaments. I would be more wary of terriers, they have a hard mouth, rather than Labs who have a soft mouth, the chances of inadvertant injury are higher with a hard mouthed dog.

I know quite a few people with labradors and they are generally very loving dogs that make a good family pet. So that could be a good choice. My family pet is a little mongrel we've had for almost 7 years and he's lovely..great temprament x

Well first I'll admit I'm completely biased, (see my blog) but I have to agree with the Labrador chose, only down side I know is that they can eat you out of house and home, wishing you many years of joy, companionship and loyalty.

Depends on the family. I have a lab and she suits us. Very playful, soft & friendly. Can have as little or as much exercise as you like but sheds hair & eats a lot.Read up about each breed & gender & see which suits your family more.

Well, get a labrador. But for me, I would choose a golden retriever because it's very cute. When it grows up, its big.

Golden Retrievers are superior family members, intelligent, kind, beautiful, easily trained. Labradore Retrievers are a little more hard headed, but wonderful companions. Terriers, all of them, require lots of exercise. Have fun with your new "kid". Please be sure and teach him/her manners (basic commands) as soon as you get it home. You'll be glad you have a brilliant, well behaved kritter in your pack.

Labrador every time, especially the black ones although all Labs have nice temperaments the black ones seem to be the easiest and have wonderful natures.

Have you ever thought about a Cocker Spaniel? They are medium sized and so, so friendly and loyal and can be real characters too. Out of the two you are thinking about I would go for the ladrador purely for their personality.

Hi thereI am also thinking of getting a dog to join our family we have four kids so I have done a lot of research into which type of dog would be most suitable bearing in mind size of dog, how much exercise you intend to give your dog but most importantly the dogs temperment and I have to say the dog that seems to come out tops every time is the golden retriever also they really have it in the looks department too, the king Charles came second for me but the sheer size of the retriever won me over as they are a hardy breed of dog with so much love to give hope I've helped some. Good luck with your choice.
