I get emails from Iams and Eukanuba. They say that their DRY dog food is good. Make sure it is DRY. the wet food is bad. I always give my dog dry dog food. Hope this helps.

There are a lot of people recommending that you just cook for your pets like for yourself. Sorry, I don't have the time to do that, so I'm just watching the labels on dog food, looking for ones that don't have wheat gluten listed. I've also never fed wet food, so I'm not quite as paranoid.

Feed him/her regular food, you eat it don't you? I've been feeding my god all our left overs and she just loves it, as a matter of fact, she seems more obedient and happier since, and since you already tasted it there is no risk is it?

What is BARF pet food?
Research RAW diet feeding for dogs (or cats). I would avoid feeding cooked food as a main diet for your pets as the nutrients they need are no longer there once cooked. Also, do not use milk....not good for them (nor cats).
BTW, many big time breeders and people who show/compete with their dogs feeds a RAW diet.
If you feel you must feed a kibble, feed a high quality dry food such as Canidae, Innova, etc.

food
I have started to feed my clan people food from recipes I have found online. I will also be adding a supplement to their food. This recall shows me we cannot trust others with our dogs. Iams and other "high end " companies use the same manufacturer as the "low end" which tells me a great chance they are all basically the same and that Iams and others have no idea what is being put in their food. Course I quite using Iams and related companies when I saw documentation that they do animal testing. Very inhumane. Can't help but wonder how "accidental" this tainting was--we know how China feels about dogs. Just a thought. What next? Deb and the beagle furkids.

I have begun making homemade dog food for my boys. It takes me about 45 minutes once a week to prepare enough food for the whole week, and it actually ends up being about the same price as when I used commercial dog food. Also, its healthier for them than commercial dog food. I have a blog at http://healthyhomemadepetfood.com detailing my foray into homemade dog food.
