I was recently told that they no longer recommend rawhide chew toys for dog because of choking and other health issues. Anyone know how this could harm our dog's health? Has anyone else heard about this? I thought they were great things for them to chew on and keep their teeth clean also.

My dog has encountered a choking problem once or twice while chewing these bones, I dont know if she was being greedy and bit off to much she could chew, or if she bit of a sharp bit & swallowed it and it got stuck.

I must say hearing your dog choke and not knowing what to do is terrifiying, I must say I looked at her as a baby and sort of did a little manouve as you would on a baby and that soon bought it right back up.

I wander if there is a manouvre you can dog on a dog if it starts to choke. I havent heard anything about them not being recommened, but I make sure I'm in the room if the dog has one of these so I'm always there. Some peopel wil say then just dont give them to her, HEY you try taking away something your dog enjoys soooooooooooo much even if it does choke her lol.
