Default crying puppy

Is the puppy crying only at night? If so, is he crated or in another room? If he is crated and this is where you want him to sleep at night you must place him in the crate and leave him. Don't let him out when he cries or he will learn that crying brings you to him. He will give up when he doesn't get results. This won't take place immediately but it will work. Giving up some sleep now will have its rewards later.

I completly agree with BWM. Crating at first is hard but nessasary, they and you will enjoy it in the future. It helps you potty train, and keep him out of mischief and harm while you are away...don't go to when baby cries...buy some earplugs.....lol

With my first dog ever, and being a total beginner with dogs I did what the first two posters suggessted. And he cried and cried, so my wife would get up and put him on her lap and watched some TV to stop it. So you would think you are spoiling him by getting up but what I decided to do is bring the pup into the room and next to my side of the bed so he can see me, and he stoped crying immediately. The pup does not want to be isolated, especially at night. Once he was house broken which by the way should not take very long, I let him sleep on the bed. But better yet is to buy one of those big deluxe slumer ball beds. He will dig his own little hole in it and prefer that over your bed. But it must be in your bed room. You cannot imagine how important to a dog is sleeping in the same room with the one he worships the most!!
