Default need advice

Hi there everyone!! I have a question and am hoping someone or all of you can give me your opinion or answer.
I bought a beautful puppy last Saturday from a breeder and we couldn't have been happier. Tuesday of that week we took her to get her shots and exam. By Thursday of that week she was so lethargic and sick with bloody diarrhea and vomit that we took her to the emergency vet clinic. While we were there, a Parvo test was taken and showed up POSITIVE! We gave authorization to immediately start and IV and whatever medications they could give her to help. Well, she passed away Monday morning (6/18/07) after being in the vet clinic for 4 nights straight of IV and all the medications they could give her. It was the diagnosing vet opinion that the puppy had contracted the virus before she was sold to us because of the incubation period. Now, what are the standard procedures that I should be taking? I'm not sure where to go with this or if there are steps I need to take or what the breeder is suppose to do in this situation? Can somebody please help me??? thank you

Default Im so sorry for your loss

Im sorry that this happened to you, i know it can be heart breaking given that you can wait for what seems like forever when buying from a breeder.
I have never been in this situation, but if I was, I would probably in the first instance get in touch with the breeder and let them know what has happened. If they are ethical, they would put in motion something to provide you with compensation of some sort....ie refund, reimbursement of vet bills or new pup from next litter/ preferably all of these. If they have value for their breeding programme they would be wanting to get in touch with all new families of that litter to let them know what has happened (thats if the same has not already happened to them)
If they seem careless about it, my next step would be to go to the kennel association (if they are a registered breeder) and escalate your issue there. If not a registered breeder fair trading may be able to assist a little, (just a thought dont know if could do much but will throw that one in as an idea)

Default Thats OK I hope all goes well

I actually just had another thought anyway.
even if the breeder is not registered with an organisation, you might still be able to get some info as to where to go and what to do from your kennel association. i hope it goes well for you, and that you get at least a satisfactory result (i know it wont be perfect because you have already gone thru alot)

same thing happened with a puppy that we were given, only, it happened literally overnight and we weren't able to get her to a vet. it was very heartbreaking!
