Kind of, maybe, still yet to find out complete answers.

I noticed several months back my boy had a funny twist in his rear legs when walking, then noticed some of the other possible indicators of displaysia. We took him to the vet and they took some xrays, but could not find anything, but we arranged an appointment with a specialist anyway, because the vet too could very clearly see what was going on.

We had to wait some time to see the specialist (unfortunately there is not one in Tasmania) but when he got to see her, she too saw the problem but could not detirmin anything from the xrays that our vet initilly took.

Bugger, so now $$$$$s down we still know no more than when we first started.

The specialist has now asked us to go back to the vet for some proper hip xrays (apparently the other lot took are not proper hip ones) as she wonders if there may be just a very slight displacement which might show up.

So we are still on the wait to find out, but hopefully soon we will know one way or the other.

Default xrays

i hope your dog is ok. fizz has had it for a few years now i notice she was limping and she had stiffness and she kept hiding and at night she wasnt sleeping well. so i took her to the vets and said she needs xray which did and noticed her hips wasnt right so at first they but her on tablets which she is still on and they said she will need surgery as they will get worse. so she had to have another xray this year to see how bad they are. in which they said her left hip is lot worse than her right one so she had it done in feb. they took the ball joint out as she is to small to have a hip replacement. it cost us £760 for the surgery but luckly we have pet insurance which we got when we brought her. for her tablets it cost us about £300 a year it did cost £500 a year as she was having calliage injecations as well the vets said she cant have them anymore. i know seems like a lot of money but i would do anything to help her as i love her very much and i would be lost with out her.

I know what you mean, we will be spending every last dollar we have to better this for Kato, i dont care how much it costs. We are still hoping in the best case senario, which still is a possibility, that he is simply just lame and has twisted hocks due to birth defect or something of the like..........I know his breeder is still waiting to hear too of what it might be.

The specialist told us that if it is just this, we would still be looking at possible athritis etc in the future too!!!! Oh well time will tell, I know that i just want to know for certain either way so we can then put in the appropriate action plan to fix it all up for him.
