I don't believe an breed of dog should be banned. I've helped fight BSL in several cities, and what works best is to propose an alternate legislation that provides for the control of dangerous animals. Period.

Specific language needs to be included that defines a "dangerous animal". And the legislation doesn't include language that could be construed as banning anything. Instead, there are specific requirements for the control of animals that have been deemed to be dangerous. And there are specific and hefty penalties for anyone who doesn't control their animal once it has been deemed to be dangerous.

The best part about the whole idea is that it's not limited to dogs. Cats can be dangerous, too. One of the first animals that got tagged as dangerous in one city is a rabbit. And if you don't believe a rabbit can be dangerous, let one kick you in the belly sometime. Working in a vet clinic for many years I've seen small dogs and cats that were seriously injured by a large pet rabbit.

There are no bad dogs, just bad owners. If your dog has aggressive tendencies take him/her to a trainer to see if they can help.
