Default Any One Ever encountered This??

I have two min-Schnauzers, And they have one full acre all fenced in to run and play. But we still never let them out alone, we still like to be out with then to over see there activity. But at night after we all go to sleep the rabbits come out onto the property and eat and poop. There poop look just like food to them and we cannot get them to stop looking for and eating the droppings. I talked to the Vet and ofcourse they said this is not ideal. But left me hanging as to what I should do??? Someone said sprinkle hot pepper on the droppings which i did and they seemed to like it more also we have one acre to cover and it is impossible to find it all before they do. should we just not be over concered and hope for the best. They do get their stools checked regularly and go to the vet at the first sign of a problem, encluding diarrhea etc. Thanks for any opinions!!

I doubt it humanly possible to find it all. there are just some things you have to accept.

I would google tho to see what diseases could be transmitted that way so at least you know what to look for in the dogs. sounds like you take very good care of them already tho.

Sometimes it could be because they are trying to obtain the proper nutrients that they are not getting from their food but it could also be by the taste.

Some dogs like the taste of others feces for some odd reason. You can train your Dog to stay away from poop or simply clean it up before the Dog gets to it. The technical term is Coprophagia. It may seem disgusting to us, but for some reason dogs find it to be appetizing. This website might be able to help you: C - Coprophagia or Eating Feces

Good luck!

Thanks for your replys, fortunately they do not show any interst in other dogs stools, only rabbits and squirrels because they are small round pellets shaped, and it gives them something to do. They really like investigating with there noses, and I am not bothered by this except for the internal problems it may bring. One dog the female is five and the male is seven and they have not had a medical related problem. Again I appreciate your input!

you'd have to be pretty much independently wealthy because you wouldn't have time to work!!

I'm sorry but the "just clean it up" struck me funny - I have this vision of you on your hands & knees with a magnifying glass looking for rabbit poop. OMG thats funny sorry, honest
