This is a special message for the holiday "puppy buying season."
The celebrity focus on the teeniest of dogs has led to a "teacup dog" craze.
While many reputable breeders sometimes have "runts" in litters, there is now a practice of selecting and deliberetly breeding undersized dogs - as small as 2 pounds. These dogs are prone to various genetic and physiological problems, the least of which is death by hypoglycemia (other issues include liver shunts, open frontanls, enlarged hearts, high graded patella luxation and more). Undersized *****es bred for teacup puppies are in danger of "dying on the table." People need to be educated about the perils of buying such tiny dogs! Please spread the word!
For the holiday "puppy buying season" I am promoting our Teacup CafePress store that fetures the slogan: "Teacups come with Saucers, Not With Tails." Even if you don't decide to purchase a bumper sticker or t-shirt, please do pass this website around and let others, who might be considering buying a toy breed, know about it! There are links to other resources and information on the internet on this page. Thank you.
