House training in a first floor apartment Hello all,
My name is Wayne and I live in the countryside near Bath in the Southwest of England. My mother and father have had several dogs over the years, mainly Springer spaniels. I have been looking around for a dog for a while and have put a reserve on a 3 week old black and white male springer; Otis. Thankfully I work from home so time with the dog and exercise won't be an issue. My concern is centered around house training. My apartment is on the first floor with its own stairwell. The front door leads to a communal front lawn. In order to access my private garden I have to walk about 20 metres (or yards for our American cousins - I like the imperial system by the way). Provided I clear up any poos I cannot see any issues, although other dogs, if not on the lead can access this spot as it is open plan ie. no gate. Given that at 8 weeks he will not have had all his parvo distemper jabs is this wise. All suggestions welcome. Regards, Wayne.
