People like to have there teeth brite white, especially celebrities. Actually my teeth are yellow - brownish in color and I could go to the DDS and have them whitened, but to me having healthy gingiva,(gums) and free of decay is most important to me. Most people do not have brite white teeth, it is actually unnatural to have perfectly white teeth. With that said, check your dogs gingiva, and if it is not puffy, inflamed or red in color it is healthy. If you see caked on material called calculus, tarder, etc. Dogs sometimes have this buildup yet the gingiva is still healthy. But Haveing there teeth cleaned professionally first (if there is a build up). I used to scale my doberman's teeth and he never had his teeth cleaned (Professinally) in his life time. But before you attempt to scale any ones teeth you must learn how to use a fulcrum, to stabilize your fingers so you will not slip and cut your dogs gingiva.
