Default Dogs in cars?

My dog is nothing fancy, he is part beagle and part rottie, but he is by far the best dog I have ever owned in my life! We got Stanley from the pound. I knew the moment I saw him that he was the one going home with me. Now my problem.. Stanley loves to go with me in the car. He loves to ride. However, most places I go wont allow dogs inside. So he has to sit in the car, which makes me feel bad about leaving him there. Now I do leave the windows down for him, and on really hot days I normally leave him home, or leave the car running with the ac on.. anyways, what do you all do? Do you just leave your dogs at home, or do you leave them in the car like I do? Guess I am looking for advice or info on how you all take your dogs everywhere you go.

Thanks

As much as I love taking my puppies with me I always leave them home on hot days unless they can get out of the car. If you leave the car running there is always the chance of your pet bumping into the gearshift and causing an accident. Not to mention someone walking by and being tempted to steal an unoccupied running vehicle. (not all car thieves are afraid of dogs)
Also, I believe in some states there are laws against that (leaving pets unsupervised in vehicles as well as leaving a car running unsupervised).
As far as your dog being "nothing fancy" I bet he is better than the 'fanciest' of all dogs to you and that is all that matters.

As much as i want to bring my dogs with me everywhere I go, I usually dont do it specially if I know that they will be alone in the car.
