Talking What to do?

Well, I adopted a German Shepherd pup about two months ago from the shelter. She's wonderful and well-behaved. About two weeks ago, a stray pitbull came up to us and was so sweet and seemed so hungry... so I took her in. The intention was to clean her up and then take her to the shelter to find a good forever home. As it turns out, upon further research, Oklahoma shelters almost immediately put down pitbulls! She's amazing and smart and loving, there is no way I could take her to just be put down at 8 months old!

My question, or plea for advice, is this: what would you do? My boyfriend thinks I need to work harder to find a home for her. But I've posted on a few different sites, and have gotten a few responses, but none were willing to have me visit their home before handing over the dog. (My boyfriend doesn't live with me, so I don't know why he's complaining. He says he doesn't want to see me struggle)

I don't make a lot of money because I'm an AmeriCorps VISTA (VISTA stands for: Volunteer In Service To America. It's kind of like the Peace Corps but in America) and it's a year of service being paid poverty wages as part of the experience. But, I've had her for two weeks now and have found a clinic that helps low-income familes get their pet spayed and her up-to-date shots for only $40.

This being said, I've had her for two weeks and have been managing fine. I budget well, so I feel capable, especially upon the discovery of the low-cost clinic. But, maybe it's not fair to keep a dog if I don't make "more money"?? I feed a wholistic diet to both of my dogs using a well rounded kibble. They have toys, love, and I've researched both of their breeds fully. Is it enough? What do you think, dog lovers of the world?

More dogs would be lucky to find a person like you...
I had a pit bull as a child and he was the sweetest, most gentle animal you could ask for. I think as long as both your dogs are getting proper care and feeding and the vet is not concerned then you are a fabulous person and caring owner. And the boyfriend really shouldn't have a say if he doesn't live with you unless he is helping to pay for things, other than that, nope
Good luck, but I wouldn't take in any more

I totally agree with lovemydach! I live on a very tight budget, and when I have a large vet bill it is always put on my charge card and takes a year to pay off and I too have struggled with the idea that maybe I don't have the money for pets! Both my dogs are rescues and I too believe that they may not have had a lot of hope in a shelter! I have kept doggie expenses down by grooming them myself (along with nail trimming!) and homemade treats. I always make sure they have the essentials like annual shots, and heartworm meds. I may have a limited income, but my love for my dogs is endless!!!
