A miniature poodle might work, do some research on them and see if it fits your home life. Good luck!

Small dogs with less shredding might be good for you. Toy poodle, brinchon frise, maltese or Miniature Schnauzer might be good for you, they are recommended for dog allergic people.

Maltese would be awesome. I own one, that's why.

All dogs shed, unfortunately. It's true that poodles shed less than most, so the mixed breeds are nice. When they breed two dogs, the strongest genes win from each. So typically the dog is stronger and healthier than even pure-bred dogs. If it's allergies you are worried about, all dogs release dander. Keeping them bathed with Oatmeal shampoo reduces their dander 80%! But make sure you use something very gentle.

So check your local shelter, anything mixed with a single coat breed will shed less. (double coat dogs include Goldens, Huskies, Shar Pei, Labs, German Shepherds ... anything made for cold weather or swimming typically).
