Default Dew Claw Pain

I just registered on this website because I figured I could get some answers from dog lovers. I am concerned because my new husband and I just got back from our Honeymoon this morning and our dog was limping on her front left paw. I was checking it out and saw that there was something growing out of the side of her foot, and she did not want us to touch it. I called a few people and they all thought maybe it was a dew claw that wasn't removed at all or removed incorrectly. I am unfamiliar with dew claws and I was wondering what the best route to take on this matter. If anyone can help me with this matter that would be greatly appreciated.

Front dew claws produce enymes that protect the dog...the back dew claws are the ones that are removed. I would take her to the vet just to check for infection. She might need antibiotics.

My dog has a dew claw. It gets in the way a lot and sometimes her claw goes into her pad in the toe.

I definitely agree that you should take the dog to the vet. It may be something else other than a dew claw...and you don't want to take the chance of infection. The vet will let you know where to go from there. Good luck, and Congrats on your nuptuals!

Our neighbor's dog before suffer broken dew claw, glad they was able to bring him to the vet immediately or the situation might worsen the the poor dog might loss one foot. Better let the vet take a look at your dog immediately.
